Lights at AbilityPoint to close Dec. 28
AbilityPoint announces this is the final year for Lights at AbilityPoint
It is your final week to visit the Lights at AbilityPoint before they are turned off and taken down for the final time.
After 27 years, the Lights at AbilityPoint is coming to an end. So don’t miss your final chance to drive through more than 1.6 million lights in displays built entirely by volunteers. Doing so helps make a positive impact in the lives of Kansans living with an intellectual and developmental disability.
“Our board and staff believe this is the right time to end the tradition, and we want to make sure the public knows so they can plan to come out one last time to enjoy the lights with their families,” said Kevin Fish, executive director.
The decision was not made lightly. Making this the final year allows AbilityPoint more flexibility for future growth and expansion.
“Events run their course,” Fish said. “We are grateful to the more than 1.2 million visitors who have come to see the lights over the years. Their donations and admissions have made all the difference to the individuals and families we serve. We are also so grateful to all the volunteers who have made this possible.”
AbilityPoint looks forward to new opportunities to help raise funds for much needed services in the coming year.
